Homemade Hot Cocoa

Oh, so yummy homemade hot cocoa that everyone will enjoy.

Organic & Fair-Trade Ingredients:

  • 4 cups milk (non-dairy alternative such as unsweetened almond or coconut milk)

  • 4-5 heaping tablespoons of unsweetened cacao (or cocoa) powder

  • Sprinkle of cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup of sugar, maple syrup, or honey – or 2 ripened bananas

  • 1 teaspoon of gluten-free pure vanilla extract (optional)

  • Whipped cream or marshmallows (non-dairy, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Mix milk with sugar using a wire whisk while heating in a pan on medium heat. (If using bananas in place of sugar, mix well in blender first before adding to the milk.)

  2. Add unsweetened cacao powder and cinnamon, then mix well with a wire whisk.

  3. Continue to heat on medium until heated thoroughly and beginning to steam.

  4. Reduce heat to low and add the vanilla extract.

Fillings/Variations/Other:

  • Serve with optional toppings, such as non-dairy whipped topping (SoDelicious CocoWhip, etc.) or vegan marshmallows (Dandies, etc.)

  • Add a little cayenne pepper for a spicy flavor.

  • Mix with coffee for a mocha drink.
